I first have to apologize for my long time lapse, it’s been hectic getting my life together. But I have done it, and I am home. Let the posting begin….
It would seem that I am not alone in my situation of moving back home after college. Some of my friends have moved home with jobs, others have moved home because they don’t have jobs. Either way, I’m not alone.
It has been almost 48 hours since I have moved home. In Berkeley we have possibly one of the most amazing grocery’s stores known to man kind Berkeley Bowl. It is huge, has the best produce at a good price, and you can buy everything in bulk, or not. Best. Place. Ever.
I come home to find that my choices for grocery shopping are Whole Foods (too expensive), Trader Joe’s (pre-packaged), or Albertsons. None of these are what I’m looking for. I decide we should go to the Farmer’s Market.
There are a large number of farmer’s markets in LA, and they all happen on a variety of days. The two I enjoy are the Santa Monica Farmer’s Market on Wednesday’s and Saturday’s and the Brentwood Farmer’s Market on Sunday’s. It’s a great morning activity, you can get breakfast or lunch, and you can get at least a few days to a weeks worth of groceries!
This morning I went with my mom to the Brentwood Farmer’s Market. We were shopping for the week, and for a possible BBQ tomorrow for Memorial Day. They had fresh everything – the peaches were juicy, the avocados were ripe, and the smell was making my tummy grumble with hunger.
We bought a variety of foods and even some flowers for only $100. Now that price beats Whole Foods, it has a better selection than Trader Joe’s, and it has better quality than Albertsons. Let’s see if I can keep this habit going … farmer’s marketing every few days.
Here is to a great weekend, and being home again!
