Well. One thing you must know about me is: I LOVE pretzels. I mean like hands down no questions asked, its pretzels all the time. I have tried almost every type of pretzel, and when I was abroad I tried pretzels (unintentionally I might add) in every country and city I visited. I can eat so many pretzels I get a stomach ache, and then I will eat more just to cure the stomach ache.
If you are not a pretzel connoisseur like myself, then I will teach you a little bit about pretzels, and why I love them. First of all they are salty, now if you are a sweet lover this will be no argument for you, but I do have to tell you they now make sweet cinnamon pretzels (not something i enjoy). Secondly they are crunchy, and they come in a variety of crunchiness. The most crunchy (and crumbly) are the large hard sourdough pretzels. They are loud to chew, but oh so delicious with large crystal chunks of salt. You then have the much less crunchy mini stix pretzels, and a medium crunch I would say are the average twisted pretzels. You have a variety of pretzel brands as well – Newmans, Snyders, Glutino (best gluten free pretzels out there), and then many stores will make their own brand. Costco pretzels also happen to be amazing.
Now, you also have the soft pretzel. A delicacy in and of itself, and a treat I get rarely. I made them one time at home, oh my god, we made 6… three girls finished them off, on top of dinner that night. They were simple to make and even easier to eat. A New York soft pretzel, wins. If you have never had one, have one.
How I came to love pretzels this much I could never tell you. Ask my parents, maybe they know.
